Chair Hunt

As I’ve mentioned in an earlier post, I’m attempting to go room by room through my house and “complete” one before I move onto the next.  I completed my entry way and now I’m stuck in the living room.  It hinges on two vital things:  Brian building the new tv stand and having enough extra money to buy us a new chair.  Today, I spent a good portion of the afternoon doing chair research.  Now, I’m not flashy, so I’m looking for something classic.  I prefer to add in interest with pillows, throws, rugs, etc.  Tell me what you think…

This lovely is from Ikea for a whooping 279 bucks!  I love the style and the price, but I’m not sure about the darkness of the fabric.

Also from Ikea, this one is ideal for having kitties and all those future kiddies to come.  (Yes, I like to plan ahead!)  You can just take off the cover and wash.

All the bells and whistles…I love the nailheads, the wooden caster feet, and the tufted back.  Pottery Barn does this look quite well.

Stately and cozy…I love this Pottery Barn chair!  You could totally curl up with a kitty and a book in this one!

I like this Overstock chair because its arms mimic the design of my small mid-century chair, so I thought it might tie my room together ; )

Last but not least, I love this Pottery Barn look-alike from Overstock.  The price makes this option very tempting!

…what’s your vote?!

Home Tour: Entry Way

I’ve always thought an entry way was meant to say, “Welcome Home”.  So, I’ve been working on perfecting mine for a few months now, and I’m finally ready to show it off.  With a tight budget, I finally got it to my liking and I’m proud of all my good finds!

For my home decorating, I’ve decided to do it a little different.  I pretty much have each room set up the way I want it, but it’s the little touches that aren’t quite right yet.  So, starting with the entry way, I’m going room by room “completing” each room like a project before I move on.  Now, the entry wasn’t very difficult because it’s maybe a 9 x 5 space.  However, my next room is the living room and my list is a little long and ambitious.  The living will be the most challenging because I actually want different furniture not just easy decor changes.  I just found the leather couch of my dreams at an antique store here in town, so I can happily check that off my list!  I’ll keep you posted as I move from room to room and from project to project as I work on finishing each space.  By the time I finish, I’m sure I’ll be ready to start over again!

Here are the sources for the items in my entry way:

  • Leather rag rug- similar option here
  • Original painting- check out college art shows for little gems like this!
  • Hand-painted sign- see my sister-in-law’s etsy for this one
  • Mail bin- on sale at Urban Outfitters
  • Croquet mallets- found at my favorite antique store, Rink Gallery
  • Rustic bench & baskets- found at my other favorite antique store, Verdigris
  • Terra-cotta pot- from Garden Ridge
  • Evergreen- from Lowe’s

Inspired By: White & Pops of Color

<image 1 & 2>

This amazing room lends creativity to its white backdrop with pops of color, but it’s all held together nicely with neutrals to tone it down a bit.  This Free People outfit does the same.  The white dress is lovely and ethereal, while wild nails and fun sandals punch up the look a bit.  But seriously, I really just want her hair!
